***Notice of motel within 12-15 minutes of Canby Grove: Holiday Inn Portland South, 254525 SW 95th Ave., Wilsonville, OR 97070, 503.682.2211, let them know you are with Northwest Sukkot***
***The camp made an error this year that we must just work around. The Lodge is available AFTER Oct. 15. In the meantime, the Holiday Inn, above, is offering reduced rates. In addition to that, the camp is offering greatly reduced prices on both the Plaza ($40 per night) and cabin ($25 per night) for the first 3 nights.***
Canby Grove Christian Conference Center and Camp is a full service facility located near the I-5 corridor between Salem and Portland.
Canby Grove offers every kind of lodging, from tent camping to staying in a hotel.
The prices are very reasonable. The price on the registration form is per room, per cabin, or per campsite and not per person. So, families, bring everyone!
Registration price includes10 Biblically kosher dinners! We thought it important to eat one meal per day as a group and dinner is the logical meal. The reason for this is to give us the opportunity on a daily basis to meet and share with people we don’t know. Bonds can be made while sitting over meals that can be the high point of gatherings. The new chef, Ira, is OUTSTANDING. We will again offer 2 meals per day, brunch and dinner, in order to cut costs. Again, dinner is included in the registration fee and I invite you to seriously consider the brunches. Going “off campus” is not handy and no cheaper. I know it hurts to pay for 10 brunches up front, but, many people arrived for last Sukkot and after 1 day asked if they could also buy the brunch package. The camp accommodated as far as possible, but, no guarantees.
Just a word about food. A few people were concerned last year because food was served on the Sabbath. We welcome you to bring and prepare your own food for the Sabbaths that we’re together if you are so convicted. One humble local family did so and never said a word to anyone concerning this matter. We also invite all to not judge anyone or any entity for eating in the cafeteria. We will probably be a group of hundreds that simply cannot reasonably obtain food except the camp feeds us. Can hundreds of people go to the local grocery store? Can people bring meals on airplanes or on multiple day road journeys? The camp has neither the personnel nor the facility to prepare and store any more than what is required as it is needed. We are in exile and are doing our best to honor YHWH. Some wonderful day we will probably see manna again, but for now, we simply must offer meals. Please be tolerant, loving, and joyful. If you choose to bring your own food, please enjoy it quietly and please refrain from making those unable to do so feel guilty.
Recreational activities abound, from catch and release fishing for children, to bike paths, hiking trails, basketball, softball, and many other opportunities for fun in the outdoors. There is built-in family time, so please bring your bikes if you can.
